Newly Released HTC Bravo Photo Confirms the Earlier Leak
Only a few days ago, some information was leaked about the next Android phone from Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC, the HTC Bravo. The news is that a photograph of a much better quality has been released which partially confirms and partially corrects the circulating leak about the HTC 2010 Roadmap.
The earlier leaked HTC 2010 roadmap now stands corrected with the release of a bigger snapshot of the HTC Bravo. The Android handset, which is to feature the latest Android 2.0 Éclair as the operating platform will be offering its users 256 MB of memory, instead of 320 MB as reported earlier. There was also some doubt whether it will feature the Éclair version of the Android OS.
Although the HTC Bravo has been learned to be operating the Android 2.0 operating platform, but there is no word whether the handset will be featuring the Sense user interface. By looking at the recently released picture, it seems that the handset may just as well feature the Sense user interface, because the minimal design and the lack of buttons bear similarities with other devices using the Sense user interface and the Vanilla Android. However, nothing can be said for sure unless the official announcements are made.
Apart from these few variations, the rest of the specifications of the handset are very much the same. The HTC Bravo will be powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, which will be supporting a 3.7” long AMOLED touch-screen with a WVGA resolution. Apart from that the handset will also be featuring a 5.0 mega pixel auto focus camera, which will be capable of recording video of 720 p resolution.
HTC Bravo will be available in the market by April 2010, and by that time, more leaked information is expected to surface. But from our experience of the HTC Roadmap, we are not expecting a lot of changes in the HTC Bravo from what we have already learned.

OS Updates for DROID Eris in Google Map Navigation
The American mobile phone carrier Verizon is preparing for software updates to HTC DROID Eris, one of its freshly released handsets with the Android operating platform. For those who are familiar with the handset, the device is featuring the Cupcake, which is the 1.5 version of the operating software, which will be upgraded in the first quarter of 2010.
The change for the users to look out for is that Verizon has engaged to bring Google’s Map Navigation on the HTC Eris. This will be significant as the Google’s Map Navigation System was only noticed in Motorola DROID, a set which features the latest Android 2.0, nicknamed the Éclair, and after that in handsets featuring Android Donut or the version 1.6.
However, it may not be necessary that Verizon keeps the HTC DROID Eris to the Android 1.5 version, and the word around the internet electronics communities is that they may upgrade the handset to Android version 2.0, or even to the version 2.0.1 of the operating platform, as Google may upgrade it before the last sun of the current year sets. However, with the price range of HTC DROID Eris, that seems highly unlikely.
Instead, it is possible that Verizon may settle with providing its DROID users to the Android 1.6, in order to settle for a relatively low-key alternative of enjoying a richer web experience and also enjoying the upgrade of Google Map Navigation. This would prove to be a much more convenient way for Verizon to provide its users the promised features.
But we are already in the last month of the current year, and we will soon see the expected Android version upgrade from Google. Suppose Verizon does move the Eris DROID to the version 2.0, then that will create a very interesting scenario for observing how the market reacts to that.
Of course, this way the Eris will be considered a much more attractive handset, and it will be interesting to see how users choose between the HTC handset and the Motorola DROID offering the Android 2.0 OS. Although Eris is hardly a match for the MOTOBLUR interface, but the price range with the Android 2.0 OS will surely offer a tough fight. Who knows, the HTC DROID may surprise the market.
HTC Hero Seen With Android 2.1
One of the finest mobile phones of the era, HTC Hero, which was released to the mobile market this year and utilizing Google’s Android Operating System has been seen pictured with the Android 2.1 flavour on board. There are however no available information on the new platform version neither are there information on how HTC managed to have lay hold of this Operating system. There are now series of screenshots revealing the relationship between the two.
The Taiwanese mobile phone maker, HTC Corporation already disclosed in the past that it would not considering the upgrade of Android 1.6 flavour of Google’s Operating System because of the fact that it may automatically update to the Android 2.0 version. However, Hero still does not have the Éclair even though the Sprint’s version had received the update a long time ago.
Concerning the Android 2.1 version of the platform, as most people have already heard, the version is expected to be released as a minor update for the Éclair, and will focus mainly on solving any issues associated with the latest Android modifications. There is a great likelihood that only a few number of users will benefit from the update since the Motorola Droid on Verizon is the only mobile device that is currently running the platform and makers/ carriers are not too keen on the release of the updates for other devices too.
As is the case with other new platform releases, it will be well appreciated if this new Operating system continues to develop and wax strong. If you decide to compare the UI of the 2.1 version and that of the Android 1.5 flavour, you will notice a great amount of similarity between the two which depicts the fact that the Taiwan-based handset vendor intiated Sense to the Android at a fast pace (already noted by Engadget) and the update may not be too far away for both the Hero and other devices.
